So without further delay, check out my first installment in a series of movies recommendations for your future viewing experiences.

Back to the Future

Release Date: 1985

Rating: PG

Emi Rating: 10/10

In the vein of SciFi, this action film is filled with humor, fantasy, and great music! This 1980's classic follows the life of Marty McFly, a Californian teen, as he is transported by into the 1950's by a crazy scientist, Doc Brown. This is one of favorite movie series!! I highly recommend watching them all, but definitely think that 1 is the best followed by 3 and then 2. Join in on the adventures of Marty and Doc, find a few new favorite throwback songs, and see how our decisions in the past can shape our futures.

The Boondock Saints

Release Date: 1999

Rating: R

Emi Score: 9/10

This is an exhilarating film set in the streets of Boston during a period of extreme violence and crime. Two brothers, Conner and Murphy, have had enough and decide to take justice into their own hands. If like me you have a fancy for vigilante justice, I highly recommend following the twin brother's adventure as they try to purify their hometown.

Die Hard

Release Date: 1988

Rating: R

Emi Rating: 10/10

On Christmas Eve night, many people are tucked by the fire and blissfully waiting for a wonderful Christmas to come-in with food as well as family. But if you're John McClane (Bruce Willis) you are avoiding bullets in the highrises of New York City. Die Hard is one of my favorite Christmas movies & hands down the best Christmas action film. Name a better one...I'll wait.

Lethal Weapon

Release Date: 1987

Rating: R

Emi Rating: 9.5/10

Taking place in the city of LA, Lethal Weapon follows the life (professional and personal) of two police detectives as they work to uncover a drug-trafficking ring. This movie in my opinion is amazing because it not only keeps you engaged...it is mearly the beginning of a 5 part movie series with characters that are well developed, make you laugh, and that you will love.

True Lies

Release Date: 1994

Rating: R

Emi Rating: 8.5/10

If you are looking for a good laugh, this movie is a must watch! Spy, Harry Tasker, is perceived by his family as a bland salesman. When his wife, Helen (played by the OG Jamie Lee Curtis), feels neglected by her husband and starts to do a little digging, things get interesting very quickly. Watch this thriller (and in my opinion comedy) to see what happens to their marriage and an inside view in the life of this spy.

Taken

Release Date: 2008

Rating: PG-13

Emi Rating: 8/10

I would be amazed if you have made it this long without hearing about taken...

This is a suspenseful action/thriller that follows the story of Bryan Mills, a former government operative, as he tries to save his daughter who has been kidnapped into human trafficking. Buckle up for this intense ride, and learn a thing or two from his daughter, Kim, on what NOT to do when traveling alone as a woman. Taken is a great movie but I will say as a disclaimer that it shouldn't keep anyone from traveling abroad and seeing the wonderful things the world has to offer!!

Mad Max: Fury Road

Release Date: 2015

Rating: R

Emi Rating: 9.5/10

Fury Road is like fine wine. The more time that passes, the more I enjoy the film. Set in a semi-post apocalyptic world where civilization has collapsed, Max Rockatansky aka Mad Max comes along side the most BA chick of the decade: Imperator Furiosa to help save the despot's 5 wives. In their rollercoaster of an escape you will fall in love with Charlize Theron and her portrayal of Furiosa. Moreover, you might be so hooked that you'll go and watch the original Mad Max films.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Release Date: 2000

Rating: PG-13

Emi Rating: 9/10

This evocative drama takes place in 19th century Qing Dynasty China. One of the most passionate and elegant action films I have seen in my life. Crouching Tiger, Hidden dragon might just leave you speechless...and possibly shedding tears. Follow the story of two lovers, a stolen sword, and the chase it leads them on. Note that this is also a movie with some amazingly talented and fierce women! So that's always a plus!!

The Dark Knight

Release Date: 2008

Rating: PG-13

Emi Rating: 8.5/10

The second movie in the Christopher Nolan Batman revival, this story tells the tale of Batman as he tries to contain the damage that the Joker is raining down on Gotham City. This movie found its way on my list for three main reasons, the amazing performance of the Joker by Heath Ledger, the story of Harvey Dent as he is depicted like a truly conflicted/relatable human, and for the cinematography displayed.

Dark Knight Rises

Release Date: 2012

Rating: PG-13

Emi Rating: 9/10

Following the Dark Knight, I HAD to mention Dark Knight Rises. Closing out this trilogy, this is my favorite movie in the series. Not only did Tom Hardy to a fantastic in the role of Bane, but the character development of Bruce Banner comes to a climax in this piece. Set nearly a decade after Dark Knight rises, this film shows Gotham in another time of turmoil that calls for Batman to come out of exile to confront the city he holds dear.
